Mike and Bryan Talk About Legend of Korra
The Wall Street Journal's Speakeasy has been running daily features on the upcoming series The Legend of Korrafor the past several days now. Their latest article is an interview with Michael DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko, the creators of Avatar: the Last Airbender and The Legend of Korra. According to the article the new series is due out mid-2012 on Nickelodeon, not this November as previously once thought. Here is some good news though;Nickelodeon had originally only ordered 12 episodes for the new series but recently decided to order 14 more shows.
WSJ: How far along are you on the new series?
Mike: We are in the midst of the first twelve episodes. We’ve written all the episodes. Episodes have shipped to the overseas animations studios and they’re animating away as we speak. So we’re kind of in the middle of things right now…All the vocal cast has been picked and recorded and all the scripts have been recorded.
WSJ: Are you looking to win new viewers with the series or just satisfy fans of the old series who have grown up?
Mike: We want everyone to watch. Definitely fans of the first series will not be disappointed in this one. The tone is a little older, the characters are a little older than the first series�they’re teenagers. Korra is 16 so she’s older than Aang was. So I think maybe some people who weren’t into the first show might find this one and be into it.
WSJ: Since the main characters are older, will there be more romance?
Bryan: I thought Korra was 17 so Mike and I have to get our stories straight. The main characters are in their late teens, we’ve always loved those kind of teen love triangle type stories and there was plenty of that in the original series. We’re definitely getting into it in this series. The difference is these people have cars and motorcycles and things. There’s definitely a different dynamic. I’d say the show is more sophisticated than the original series but it has the same balance of tones we’ve always liked with humor, action, drama, scary stuff and romance.
WSJ: Will characters from the first series show up in “Korra”?
Bryan: Again it’s 70 years later so they’ll appear in various ways perhaps.
Mike: There is definitely a link to the old series and the old characters.
WSJ: Who is the main villain in Korra?
Mike: We have a great villain. He’s kind of an anti-bending revolutionary guy. Very scary dude. And definitely is quite a challenge for Korra.

The Last Airbender: Legend of Korra
The Last Airbender: Legend of Korra (originally Avatar: Legend of Korra) is an upcoming American television mini-series set in theAvatar universe as a spin-off of Avatar: The Last Airbender. It is expected to air on Nickelodeon in mid-2012. The series is currently under production, and was originally expected to run for 12 episodes, until Nickelodeon extended it another 14 to make a total of 26 episodes. The co-creators of the original series, Michael Dante DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko, will personally write all of the episodes to allow for a tighter storyline.The new series will take place 70 years after the end of the Avatar: The Last Airbender story arc, with all-new characters and settings.The protagonist of the new series, Korra, the next Avatar after Aang, is a hot-headed and rebellious young woman from the Southern Water Tribe who is "ready to take on the world". Apple Makes Changes to Prevent Kids from Accidental In-App Buys
Apple has changed its in-app purchase policy, in wake of criticism over the ability of kids to rack up huge bills via in-app purchases. The changes come in iOS 4.3, which was released on March 9.
The new version of iOS adds another layer of security: in the past, in the first 15 minutes after an app was purchased, you didn't need to enter the iTunes password again. Parents who bought a game might hand the device over to a child, only to see a huge bill later as the children didn't understand they were racking up a bill.
However, it doesn't mean that a password needs to be entered for every in-app purchase. Once "unlocked," the in-app purchase policy means that purchases can be made for 15 minutes after the password is entered. Parents need to be remember that, and not just hand the device over.

Google Enables Instant Preview For Mobile, New Emergency Calling Display
It's the small steps, Sally! Some say big things come in tiny packages, and in this case, a big plus has come in the form of a small magnifying glass. Google's latest subtle tweak to the mobile browsing experience is shaping up to make a major difference in how people surf, and save them an awful lot of time along the way. Back in November 2010, Google started to showcase emergency phone numbers at the top of the results page for searches around poison control, suicide and other common emergencies in 14 countries. This week, the company is making it even simpler to quickly reach the help you may need by adding click-to-call capabilities for all of these emergency information search results.
They did this by piggybacking on the way that their mobile ads team enabled click-to-call phone numbers in local ads on mobile devices, which allows businesses to make it even easier for customers to reach them when those customers search on Internet-enabled mobile devices. Previously, mobile users in one of these countries who conducted searches around poison control, suicide and common emergency numbers received a result showing the relevant emergency phone number. People on mobile will now get the same result, but the phone number will be a link that allows you to dial the number instantly, just by clicking the link.
In other mobile news, Google also implemented Instant Previews on Mobile, which is active on phones with Android 2.2+ and iPhone 4.0+. The service works across 38 languages, and similar to the desktop version, you can visually compare search results from webpage snapshots, making it easier to choose the right result faster, especially when you have an idea of the content you’d like to see. For example, if you’re looking for a webpage that has both photos and descriptions, you can use Instant Previews to quickly identify these pages by navigating across the visual search results with a few swipes of your finger. Or perhaps you’re looking for an article, a step-by-step instructions list, or a product comparison chart—with Instant Previews, you can easily spot pages with the right content without having to navigate back and forth between websites and search results. And when the mobile version of a website is availablee, Google will show you a preview of the mobile page.

Lest you might have forgotten, Apple sent out an announcement today reminding the world that its second generation magical device (and yes, Apple revived that term) -- the iPad 2 -- will be available tomorrow evening at 5 PM local time in each of its 236 Apple retail stores in the U.S, 1 AM PST online at www.apple.com, and 5 PM local time at AT&T, Best Buy, Target, Verizon Wireless, Walmart, and select Apple Authorized Resellers.
Those who march into an Apple Store to pick up an iPad 2 will be offered free Personal Setup service, helping you do things like setup your email and load new apps before you leave the store.
In case you somehow missed all the hoopla, from pre-launch rumors to Apple's March 2nd press event, the iPad 2 is 33 percent thinner and up to 15 percent lighter than the original iPad. It sports a faster dual-core processor with much better graphics performance, it has both rear- and front-facing cameras, can record 720p HD video, and still delivers up to 10 hours of battery life, or so Apple claims. Pricing is the same as before, meaning you can grab an iPad 2 starting at $499 for the 16GB Wi-Fi only model.
So back to our original question. Show of hands, how many of you are planning to pick up an iPad 2, either on launch day (tomorrow) or sometime after? If not the iPad 2, do you plan to purchase a tablet anytime soon? Which one?

Week Without Walls - Day 1

It was my first field trip in Cita Hati since I moved to this school half a year ago (2010). This was my first time to have a field trip with the grade 10 to Jakarta and Bandung at February 8th, 2011. The trip's theme is called "Week Without Walls".We have to arrive at around 5:00 to Juanda airport, Surabaya, Indonesia. My plane took off at 6:00 and arrived at around 7:00. Then we went straight away to Garuda GMF AeroAsia. It was a place where they keep to maintenance the airplanes. At 10.30 we moved to the Aero Catering Service (ACS). At there we learned how the plane food produced and packed. And we also got lunch in the ACS, it was very delicious. Then we go to GITC (Garuda Indonesia Training Service), it was a place where Garuda trained new workers. 
After a half day trip to Jakarta, we went to Bandung at around 15:00 and arrived at 18:00. Before we go to Amaris Hotel, we had dinner in Kampung Daun. It was a very wonderful restaurant with a beautiful waterfall and delicious foods.
We checked in the hotel at 21:30, unpacked, and went to sleep at 22:00.
Week Without Walls - Day 2

On the 2nd day (February 9th, 2011) we had morning call at 5:30 and we got 1 hour to get ready before having breakfast at 6:30. I was roommate with Evelyn.
At 7:30 we went to Konferensi Asia Afrika Museum to learn about the history of the conference that happened during the world war. There were also old furnitures that were used in that time. Then we went to distro for interviews (the projects that we got from school) and we also got some time for shopping. We had lunch in Pagoda Restaurant, it was a chinese restaurant.
We went back to the hotel at around 22:00 but I went to sleep at midnight.
Week Without Walls - Day 3

On the last day (February 10th, 2011), I was very exhausted and was very sleepy it the morning because I didn't get enough sleep at night. Like on the 2nd day, we had morning call at 5:30 but because I was so tired, I went to sleep again after the morning call and woke up at 6:00.
We went to Jakarta at 12:30 and arrived at 16:30 to had dinner at Bukit Randu Bandara (it was also chinese food). It took 1 hour for us to went to the airport from the restaurant even though the distance from the restaurant to the airport wasn't far but we had traffic jam (traffic jam is very common in Jakarta).
The flight was at 19:00 and we arrived safely to Surabaya at 20:00. It was a very exiting journey and I hoped that it was longer.
